Come out and say Thank you… CHCA Annual Police, Firefighters and Postal Workers Picnic

Annual police, firefighters and postal workers picnic is July 28th

It’s the middle of summer and once again the Chestnut Hill Community Association is holding its annual celebration and picnic honoring police officers, firefighters, and postal workers.

The festivities take place on Wednesday, July 28, starting at 6 p.m. at Pastorius Park. Police, firefighters, and postal workers and their immediate family members — as well as all children under 8 years old — are treated to free food and refreshments followed by a concert in the park at 7:30 by Dukes of Destiny, Philly’s best loved blues band. The charge for others is $8.00 per person for the picnic; the concert is free.

This is the 12th consecutive year the CHCA has sponsored the picnic and concert in honor of the public servants. This year it will feature the talents of Weavers Way Co-op, Tavern on the Hill, Baker Street Bread Company, Top of the Hill Market, and volunteers from the Chestnut Hill Community Association who will provide food and beverages. The dinner will feature traditional picnic fare.

“We are especially indebted to these workers serving our community,” said Jane Piotrowski, CHCA Social Division Vice President. “It’s a great time for the community to come out and show its appreciation and support for all of these hard working people.”

“It’s also a great opportunity for people to get to know their neighbors and other members of Chestnut Hill’s community organizations,” Piotrowski added. “It promises as always to be a great evening with great food and music.”

Piotrowski has been working with CHCA Board members Marilyn Paucker and Ann Marie Arment to organize this year’s picnic.

Reservations can be made by calling the CHCA office (215-248-8810) or visiting the CHCA website (www.chestnuthill.org) by Monday, July 26. Payment may be made at the picnic, but reservations are strongly encouraged. In the event of rain, the picnic will be held at the Water Tower Recreation Center, 200 E. Hartwell Lane.
