PASTORIUS PARK SUMMER CONCERTS
The Chestnut Hill Community Association produces
Philadelphia’s longest running free outdoor concert series. For
more than 70 years The Pastorius Park Summer Concerts have
been synonymous with summer evenings in Chestnut Hill.

MOVIES UNDER THE STARS
Family, neighbors, friends, blankets, lawn chairs, popcorn,
food trucks and 26-foot screen can only mean Movies
Under the Stars. Just another event the CHCA organizes to
bring people together to enjoy good times, a good movie,
some good food . . . all outdoors under the night sky at
Water Tower Recreation Center.

CHESTNUT HILL LOCAL
Chestnut Hill is a community with its own independent
newspaper covering the people, news, events, and
happenings right here. The Local is owned by the CHCA,
and a subscription to the award-winning weekly newspaper
is included with every membership.

GREEN SPACE INITIATIVE
The CHCA Green Space Initiative helps promote, plan for
and plant trees throughout commercial streets in Chestnut
Hill. A Chestnut Hill Tree Tenders group has been formed
through the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and
works with neighbors to plant residential trees.

HOOPS MADNESS
Families and friends fill the stands to cheer on their team
during Hoops Madness! Hoops Madness offers kids
and adults a chance to play half court, 3-on-3 games of
basketball and participate in a variety of shooting contests:
3-point, foul-shooting and half-court shooting competitions.

CHESTNUT HILL COMMUNITY HOLIDAY PARADE
The CHCA brings Santa to the neighborhood every year in
the long-standing Chestnut Hill tradition, the Chestnut Hill
Community Holiday Parade. Families and neighbors line
Germantown Avenue to wave to the marchers of
sports teams, Scouts, bands and more!

CIRCLE OF TREES CELEBRATION
The Circle of Trees Celebration brings the community together to at the start of the holiday season.
Like most CHCA activities it is free to the public. Friends and neighbors head to the
Woodmere Art Museum for this annual event and to enjoy hot chocolate, cider, cookies, music,
goodie bags for the kids and a visit from Santa! This event is produced by the CHCA along with the
Chestnut Hill Business Association and the Woodmere Art Museum.

ACTIVE STEWARDSHIP and ADVOCACY
Recognizing the value of Chestnut Hill as a National Historic
District set within the sensitive natural environment known as the
Wissahickon Watershed, the Chestnut Hill Community Association
provides active stewardship of land use planning and zoning
issues within the community. The CHCA was founded back in 1947
by a core group of community members who saw their beloved
neighborhood losing its specialness to unconsidered development
and neglect. They established a vision and standards that remain
in practice today. To maintain these standards, CHCA committees
were formed to provide a process for review: Development
Review, Land Use Planning and Zoning, and Streetscape. These
committees, staffed by volunteers, work with the community
and with City agencies, including the Philadelphia City Planning
Commission, Philadelphia Streets Department, Philadelphia Water
Department, and City Council representatives.
