CHCA Executive Committee Meeting
Hiram Lodge
Maxine Dornemann called the meeting to order with a moment of silence
at 7:55pm.
Approval of the minutes: Minutes were not available for distribution.
They would be emailed out.
Financial Report: Mark Keintz
Mark reviewed the financials for the CHC Fund, CHCA and The Local
briefly and would follow-up via email his reports.
Maxine spoke to the B&W Gala 2004 incident where a worker had
been shocked while putting up the tent. This employee was suing
the CHCA, Septa and Peco. It is in the hands of a lawyer and he
will keep us informed. All documents already have a file.
Mark Keintz asked for Board input on his performance. Tia Burke
thanked Mark for a great job on his reporting.
Social Division: Dina Hitchcock:
Tia Burke reported on the Pastorius Park Concert schedule, which
would be 10 concerts plus a Shakespeare in the Park performance.
She also reported on the $5000 sponsorship we had received from
Cherelle Parker, State Representative which was brokered by John
O’Connell/. Tia would appeal to the local businesses for ads
in the programs to help raise more money. Weavers Way would be selling
food and will be donating the proceeds to the Park Concerts. Tia
spoke to a successful endeavor in getting the community more involved
in volunteering at the concerts. A few more dollars may be able
to be allocated – it is though up to the Board. Tia felt confident
that she could raise $10,000. What they really needed is $6,500.
Sanjiv Jain said that he could help by opening up stores that could
selling items that would benefit the Park Concerts. They could raise
money all summer. They spoke of doing a silent Auction at the Concerts.
Maxine reported on a letter that was circulating soliciting funds
for the Fire Station planting this year. Carol Hausserman was working
on this. The second letter was in regards to Buckley Park improvements/Endowment
program. $30,000 needs to be raised in order to implement the plans
designed by Laurel Hill Gardens. Dina Hitchcock asked if the plans
were available. Yes, they were with Carol Hausserman. They are in
search of a Garden Coordinator. Meredith Sonderskov was a possibility.
Jeremy Heep spoke to a $3,000 grant from Starbucks that was received
for The Water Tower memorial. He commented on the great turnout
for clean up day and new plantings. They are working on the Memorial
to look a lot better. $3,000 was for plantings and an additional
$3,000 is still needed.
Commerce Bank: Sanjiv Jain
Sanjiv spoke to the letter that Jim Foster had written and wanted
to send out. Commerce Bank had received an OK to begin legalizing
the demolition. Facts stated in the letter were not correct. Sanjiv
was unwilling to send the letter out. He would like to rewrite the
letter. Jim Foster can send his letter, but it does not represent
the CHCA.
Sanjiv stated that we must go through the proper people. Be sure
to create a history. List concerns of the committee members. The
committee is reaching out and contacting Zoning Attorneys. Sanjiv
also spoke to using our website as a place to post information regarding
progress/activity/correspondence/photographs and any other relavent
official documents concerning Commerce Bank. Sanjiv thanked everyone
for supporting him in his position and that he felt good leaving
with all units in our rentals filled and with Healthy paying tenants.
Brien Tilley reported on the Fund Drive and noted that more money
had come. If more money came in it would be allocated.
Maxine spoke to the committee and thanked them for their gifts
of talent and energy that they continue to give to the community.
Meeting was adjourned.
Respectively submitted,
